February Energy Changes

FSYS Blog - February Energy Changes

It’s that time of year again! The visiting energy has completed its annual shift. That means new energy occupies your space.

In classical feng shui, we look at the unseen energy in environments that people live and work in. This energy is represented by 9 numbers, 1 – 9.  Each year during the first week of February the annual energy at the center of each space changes and all the numbers participate in a dance, much like a game of musical chairs. Only, every number does get a new home for the year.

When this happens in the second month of the year, some permanent energy, that has up until then been dormant, gets activated by the new visiting energy. This can create opportunities for change that were only possibilities before. Sometimes, this potential energy that has actualized, brings great change to your life. Changes you weren't expecting or ready for.

These changes can be positive or negative, a great boon or a tough break. Depending on whether the energy combinations are auspicious or inauspicious, these changes can be very wonderful or extremely challenging. Depending on the potency of the visiting energy, these changes can be sudden and severe or gradual and gentle.

Many people this time of year experience many life changes. Job loss, unexpected bills, financial stress, health crises, car trouble, relationship problems and emotional turmoil. New jobs, unexpected streams of income, financial wind falls, physical healing, better transportation, happier relationships and more emotional well-being. It’s common for people to move or change jobs, start a new career or business, meet new people or a romantic interest, take up a new endeavor, study, discipline or hobby.

Feng shui, through the results of a compass reading and an energy decoding system, can provide insight into what kinds of energy might be affecting you and your life. And, more importantly, provide simple remedies and enhancements that you can implement in a single afternoon or weekend. Many times, people have all the right stuff in all the wrong places. Others will need to invest in a few items that can be moved around each year as needed.

Feng shui works by balancing the Five Elements. Making sure each room in your home or office includes Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. Reducing the elements that are too dominant. Remedying any negative chi and enhancing the positive chi.

Metal is a necessary remedy for every environment. Metal is the element that is the most underutilized in people’s environments. Metal furnishings, accent pieces and accessories are more expensive and don’t always fit with certain styles and aesthetics. Investing in a few carefully selected metal pieces is essential to feng shui’ing your environment.

Fire and Water are intensifiers. They increase whatever energy they are with. They are also the two elements we use to enhance good energy. Both can reduce negative energy, as well as, activate dormant energy. Fire and Water are some of the most powerful chi lifters too.

Earth is the element that MUST be reduced, remedied and sometimes avoided. It is also the element that should be enhanced for optimal prosperity and infinite abundance. Earth is the most abundant element in people’s environments, represented in materials, colors, shapes and elements. Knowing how to remedy and enhance the three different kinds of Earth energy requires expertise.

Wood needs to be present in every area of your space. It is vital to balancing the Five Elements. Living plants lift chi, improve air quality and contribute their life force to your environment.
