Emotion Clearing

RITUAL: Clearing | SEASON: Spring | WELLBEING: Emotional

In traditional Chinese medicine and feng shui, Spring is associated with the Wood element. The Wood element is the first in a series of Five Elements - Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. It’s a yang energy element that initiates the first season of a new year.

The Wood element is associated with vital detox organs. Spring is a good time to detox the liver or support its detoxification with herbal supplements. Do a gallbladder flush. Or, do castor oil packs over the liver and gallbladder.

The throat and thyroid are also associated with the Wood element. Get your thyroid checked. Give your throat Reiki as you fall asleep or in the morning when you’re sitting in the sunlight or during a meditation.

You can read more about how to support your physical health this time of year by reading the blog, Spring Detox.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing some things you can do to clear emotions.

In The 8 Elements, Soft Wood and Hard Wood are the emotional elements. Wood elements feel their feelings and express them. They emote and evoke emotions in others. They learn how to process their emotions in healthy ways and release them.

Emotions are energy in motion. It’s important to allow our emotions to move through us and then release them. When we suppress or don’t express our emotions they can get stuck and stored in our bodies. And that can eventually cause us some health issues.

So much of the focus these days is on mental health. But emotional wellbeing is just as important. Emotion is unique to humans. It colors our life and world. So, we need to learn how to process how we feel, choose higher vibe feelings and prioritize doing the things that evoke our desired feelings.

The low vibe emotions associated with the Hard Wood element are: embarrassment and humiliation, indecision and frustration, anger and resentment, rage and bitterness. Anger gets stored in the liver. Bitterness gets stored in the gallbladder. Humiliation gets stored in the thyroid.

When Hard Wood elements are in balance they are kind and compassionate, thoughtful and caring, gentle and patient. Instead of being ill-tempered and quick to anger, they are good humored and sagacious. Instead of throwing a temper tantrum like a child, they learn how to use their words, ask for what they need and get their emotional needs met.

Each of The 8 Elements tends to experience the emotions that are related with the organs, glands or systems associated with their personal feng shui element. For Water elements, fear gets stored in their knees and lower back (kidneys and adrenals). Mother Earth elements store worry in their stomach and spleen. Soft Wood carries their emotions in their hips, thighs and buttocks. Hard Metal stores grief in their heart, lungs and colon. And Soft Metal stores guilt and shame in their mouth, chest and pancreas. Anxious thoughts get stored in the entire nervous system for Mountain Earth elements. And Fire elements can store their doubt and apathy in their heart and small intestine.

Whatever you’re feeling, it’s important to get to the root cause of the emotion. Sometimes anger is a mask for grief. Sometimes frustration is expressed when we don’t have what we need.

Journaling can be a great way to process how you are feeling. Write about events that happened or interactions with people and how they made you feel. Work through them in writing or talk about them with a friend you can trust.

The throat chakra represents our ability to speak our truth. Often, what we don't say can get stuck and stored in our throat causing sore throats and thyroid conditions. Not feeling able to be authentically self-expressed can cause the emotions we’re not expressing to get stored in our throat chakra.

Journaling Prompts for the Throat Chakra

  • My voice wavers or falters when…

  • I can’t express myself the way I’d like to because…

  • I don’t speak up when…

  • I hold back from saying how I feel when…

  • I’m not honest with my self or others because…

  • I don’t tell the truth when I know I should because…

  • I don’t feel safe to be authentically myself when…

  • I stay silent instead of saying what I want to say because…

  • When I don’t express myself, I feel…

There are many other ways to clear emotions. Homeopathy and acupressure, crystals and essential oils, as well as, emotional clearing sessions and statements can help. A Reiki Master can remove stored emotions with an auric clearing technique (sometimes called psychic surgery).

The following are various practices and healing modalities you can use to release emotions and clear stored emotions yourself.

The most effective ways to heal emotions is to first practice forgiveness and then show yourself some compassion. For forgiveness, I recommend the Ho’oponopono prayer, “I’m sorry. I love you. Please forgive me. Thank you.” For self-compassion I recommend repeating the Five Reiki Principles as a daily mantra.

The Five Reiki Principles

Just for today…

I will not worry.

I will not get angry.

I will be grateful.

I will do my work diligently.

I will show myself and others compassion.

The Secret Mirror Technique - Joe Vitale

  1. Go to a quiet, calm place and stand in front of a full-length mirror.

  2. Look into your eyes.

  3. Reflect on your positive worth and value, and allow yourself to feel self-love and self-compassion.

  4. As you continue to look yourself in the eyes, say, “I understand, love, and accept myself on the deepest level”.

  5. Repeat this technique daily. Then, each week review your life to see how it might be influencing you.
