Preparing for Spring!

HR Blog - Preparing for Spring

RITUAL: Journaling | SEASON: Winter-Spring | MONTH: March

Spring Equinox on March 20th is just a week away! To prepare for the new season, you’ll want to do some journaling and planning. The new year is coming, so get yourself a new journal or day planner for the new year ahead.

Winter is a time for dreaming up new ideas and envisioning ideal outcomes. In fact, Winter is represented by the archetype of The Visionary. So, if you’ve spent the most yin season visualizing what you’d like to be, do and have in the new year, you’re prepared to take the next step. If not, do some visualization practices this week to prepare for the yang season of Spring.

Without vision, a people perish.

Winter is associated with the Water element. And the Water element is represented by the womb the creation, the void that is the source of all that is. This cosmic womb holds the space for all of your infinite possibilities and potentialities, dreams and desires.

Water is the element that’s connected to your eternal soul, your infinite being and your sacred life purpose. It’s important to remember who you really are and know why you are here. If you haven’t discovered your reason for having this human experience at this momentous time, set an intention to gain some clarity.

Journaling Prompts

  • What is my purpose in life?

  • What is my soul’s mission?

  • What vision do I have for my life?

  • What does my ideal life look like?

  • Where am I now on my life path?

  • Where would I like to be be?

The transition from season to season is associated with the Earth element. From Winter to Spring, it’s the nurturing and loving Mother Earth element that guides our journey from holding space for our dreams and desires in Winter to planting seeds in Spring. Mother Earth is the warm, rich, dark, fertile soil required for seeds to germinate and grow.

It’s planning season! The transitional period between Winter and Spring is the time to determine what seeds you’d like to plant. Your seeds are all of the ideas you have for yourself and your life. Now is the time to plan and then prepare the garden of your life.

In preparation for planting season, plan now for what you’d like to see blossom and bear fruit in your life. Often, people will grieve when Fall comes because there’s nothing to harvest. To make your dreams come true and your visions a reality, you have to plant those seeds in Spring.

Get out your journal, notebook or day planner and starting planning for the new year. Make a list of the seeds (ideas and intentions) you’d like to plant. Then, decide when and where you’d like them to grow.

Pprepare your life like you would a garden bed. Enrich the foundation of your life by honoring your highest values and embodying your most essential qualities. Create space in your life for these seeds to take root. And establish some daily habits to cultivate them.

Prepare the receptive earth to welcome your seeds and take them into her womb for germination and gestation. Pull any stubborn weeds and remove any dead plants. Turn the soil over and allow it to aerate. Add nutrients with mineral rich compost. Then, plow the fields, leaving deep furrows for neat rows of seeds or seedlings. Poke holes in the earth, drop in your seeds, cover with soil, water and wait for them to sprout.

Journaling Prompts

  • What do I need to do to create the space for the new things I’m preparing to bring into my life?

  • What grooves and gaps do I need to create in the foundation of my life for my ideas and intentions to become firmly established?

  • What can I sow now that I will be able to harvest later this year?

  • What changes do I need to make to my daily schedule to keep my seedlings growing and thriving?
