Clearing the Clutter

FSYS Blog - Clearing the Clutter
Now that you know what your why is and what clutter is, it's time to learn the how-tos of decluttering.
You've prepared your heart and mind to let it go. Now, it’s time to get prepared to clear the clutter in practical ways.
Look at your space. What do you have? What you are ready to let go of? What do you need to organize your stuff or store it better?
Look at your schedule. When would be the soonest, most convenient time to begin? Are you ready to start now? Do you need to wait until your next day off? Is there an evening this week that is free?
Talk to your partner and children, housemates or roommates. Are they willing to participate or help? Are they willing to declutter their own stuff?
Get out your Feng Shui Journal. Write down anything you think you might need to start decluttering and organizing.

Now that you know what you need to clear the clutter, it’s time to make some good decisions about what to keep, what to give away (or sell) and what to throw away.  As you get ready to declutter a space or room, prepare a large bag for trash, card board boxes for donations or online sale items and plastic bins for seasonal clothin and décor.  Also bring a duster or cloth and household cleaning spray, vacuum or broom, to clean as you go.
KEEP - Things you need, use, like, fit and are beautiful or make you happy.
GIFT - Things you don’t use or won’t use again.Things you don’t need or like.  Things that don’t fit. Things that don’t contribute value to your life. Things that don’t match your interior design or personal aesthetic. Things that have negative energy, emotions or memories attached to them. Things from past relationships.
DISCARD - Trash. Things that cannot be repaired. Things that you haven’t taken the time or spent the money to get fixed. Things that are old, torn, stained, shabby or worn out.
STORE - Luggage.  Seasonal clothing and décor.
