Each of the Five Elements is associated with certain shapes. Knowing about these shapes helps you feng shui your environment through interior design and honor your personal energy through Feng Shui For YOU! This knowledge can be applied to everything! The shape of a house or car, the shape of a mirror or table or to the shape of your hair cut and prints on your clothing, the shape of your jewelry and accessories.

WOOD

Basic Shapes: Columns/Pillars, Towers, Cylinders, Vertical Rectangles

Other Images: Flowers, Leaves, Plants, Trees, Vines

Lines: Vertical

3 Dimensional Objects, "to the power of 3"

FIRE

Basic Shapes: Arrows, Diamonds, Pyramids, Triangles

Other Images: Animals, Eyes, Faces, Flames, Hearts

Lines: Angular, Zigzag

EARTH

Basic Shapes: Squares, Flat Horizontal Rectangles (Planes, Plateaus)

3D Shapes: Cubes, Spheres, Human Body

Other Images: Hearts, Hieroglyphics, Logos, Symbols, Words

Lines: Flat Horizontal, Peaks & Valleys

2 Dimensional Images, Surface Area, Squared Objects, Square Numbers, "to the power of 2"

METAL

Arches, Circles, Domes, Ovals, Vesica Pisces

Other Images: Busts, Profiles of Heads

Hard Metal Shapes: Angels, Clouds, Crowns, Halos, Rainbows, Swords, Wings

Lines: Curved, Scalloped

WATER

Amoeba, Asymmetrical, Freeform, Irregular, Kidney Shapes, Spirals, Teardrops

Lines: Wavy, Meandering, Undulating

One Dimensional Space (a line - an infinite collection of points)

Building Shapes: Cylinder, High Rise, Tower, Skyscraper

Famous Buildings: Big Ben, Empire State Building, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Washington Monument

Townhouses. Condos. Houses or buildings with many stories. Houses or buildings with columns or pillars. Silos. Obelisks. Treehouses. Keeps, high towers, turrets.

Drapes, rugs, upholstery or wallpaper with flowers, leaves, plants, trees, vines or vertical lines.

Cylindrical candle holders, glasses and vases.

Pop-up books. Origami.

Jewelry or accessories that have the shape of flowers, fruit, leaves, plants, tress, vegetables or vines.

Fabrics that have vertical lines or prints of flowers, fruit, leaves, trees, vegetable or vines.

Yoga Poses: Handstand, Headstand, Tree

Wood people are the most likely to live in a house with columns or many stories, surrounded by gardens, set amidst an orchard or against a forest.

Fire

Building Shapes: Pyramid

Famous Buildings: Eiffel Tower, Flatiron Building, Great Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx, Sydney Opera House, Louvre Pyramid, The Shard

A-frame houses.  Pyramids.  Castles, cathedrals or churches with spires or steeples and tapering conical or pyramidal structures. Tee-pees and wigwams.

Jewelry or accessories that have the shape of arrows, eyes, feathers, flames, heart, pyramids or triangles.

Fabrics that have animal prints or arrows, eyes, feathers, flames, hearts, pyramids or triangles.

Heart shaped pillows or boxes.  Stuffed animals.

Yoga Poses: Boat, Dolphin, Downward Dog, Extended Side Angle, Lizard, Plough, Triangle

Fire people are the most likely to frequent temples or synagogues, university chapels or stadiums where throngs of people congregate.

Earth

Building Shapes: Box, Cube, Horizontal Rectangle, Square

Famous Buildings: Buckingham Palace, Fallingwater, The Kaaba, Villa Savoye, White House

Ranch style houses with 90 degree angles and square or rectangular floorplans. Cubicles. Corner offices. Spherical houses.

Drapes, rugs, upholstery or wallpaper with squares or rectangles, symbols or horizontal lines.

Square or rectangular desks, tables and islands. Square or horizontal rectangular windows and mirrors. Square tile. Square candle holders and vases; plates, chargers and platters.

Rectangular swimming pools and square hot tubs.

Boxy cars.

Rubik's cube.  Balls.

Jewelry or accessories with cubes, square, or horizontal rectangles, geometric shapes, logos, symbols or words.

Fabrics with animal prints, faces, cubes, square or horizontal rectangles, graphic art, geometric shapes, brand names, logos, symbols or words.

Body pillows.  Platform beds.

Yoga Poses:  Corpse, Plank, Warrior 3

Earth people are the most likely to believe in the flat earth theory (a sphere looks like a plane from the perspective of a small enough observer) or get caught up in the FE/Baller debate.

Metal

Building Shapes: Arch, Circle, Disk, Dome, Oval

Famous Buildings: Colosseum, Gateway Arch, Taj Mahal

Houses with archways. Oval Office.

Drapes, rugs, upholstery or wallpaper with circles or ovals.

Round or oval desks or tables, windows and mirrors. Round plates, chargers and platters.

Round hot tub.  Round rooms and round beds.

Cars with lots of curves.

Archways. Bridges.  Carousel.  Ferris wheel.

Jewelry or accessories with circles, ovals, arches, curved lines, scalloped edges, profiles of heads.

Fabrics with prints of circles, ovals, curved lines, scalloped edges.

Tools and weapons with sharp curved lines.  Bayonets and blades.  Ceremonial swords.  Daggers and knives.  Scythes.

Yoga Poses: Bow, Bridge, Cobra, Standing Bow, Wheel

Metal people are most likely to have archways in their homes, have round tables and oval mirrors, a bust of a famous artist and a bridge in their garden.

Water

Building Shapes: Asymmetrical, Freeform, Wavy

Famous Buildings: GT Tower East, Hangzhou Waves Building, Heydar Aliyev Center, London Aquatics Centre, Neiman Marcus at Natick, Porsche Pavilion, Rocco Forte Hotel, The Wave, Tidal Wave

Houses that are asymmetrical or have undulating lines.

Drapes, rugs, upholstery or wallpaper with asymmetrical shapes or wavy lines.

Tables with asymmetrical glass tops.

Kidney shaped or freeform pools.  Irregular ponds and lakes.

Aerodynamic, teardrop or kidney shaped SUVs.

Jewelry or accessories that have a raindrop or kidney shape or have wavy lines.

Fabrics with amoeba shapes, irregular patterns or wavy lines.

Yoga Poses: Child's, Crow, Rabbit

Water people are the most likely to have a panoramic view of a large body of water, an infinity pool, kidney shaped swimming pool or outdoor water feature with meandering pathways.
