2011: A Soft Metal Year

T8E BLOG - 2011: A Soft Metal Year

2011 is a Soft Metal year! This year is about celebrating children: your own children, the children of the world, your inner child! People will use their creativity to come up with ways to contribute to the health and wellbeing of children. Desires and intentions about changing our attitude and approach to children’s health, education and presence on the Earth will be supported by the funds and resources needed to make these changes possible. If you have children or grandchildren, plan special “dates” with them that they can look forward to throughout the year. Think about how you could contribute to the children in your life, neighborhood, community or the world in some way this year. Think about how you could become more childlike in your appreciation and enjoyment of this game we call life.

Be creative! Do something fun that you have been wanting to do. Even if you are not naturally an artistic or creative person, do it for the fun of it and to develop your own personal self expression. Take up sketching or painting, sign up for a creative writing class, learn to dance or play an instrument. If you are an artist or have a creative talent, share it with children or the people in your community through performances, exhibitions or free group lessons. Take pictures, write poetry, start scrapbooking, make a family art piece to display in your home.

This is a year to enjoy the finer things in life. Soft Metal represents all the beautiful and precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum that are used to adorn our bodies, embellish our furnishings and gild the accent pieces in our living and working environments. They are an expression of wealth and promotion. Our riches can be spent on the finishing touches to our wardrobe, ornaments for our homes, or luxurious vacations. Oftentimes promotions in the business world are celebrated with a fancy dinner, company perks, a luxury vehicle, or even a bigger house. Changing our status in our personal lives from single to married is celebrated with exchanging shiny and sparkling rings. Celebrations of life and anniversaries of special relationships are honored with jewelry, cufflinks, watches, etc.

It’s important this year to protect your valuables: your money, your assets and your loved ones. Make an appointment with your investment broker to go over your portfolio and make sure your investments are sound and properly allocated. Pay attention to your intuition about where to put your money for security and continued growth. Look into writing a living will and purchasing life insurance so that your family will be well taken care of. Start putting money away for your children’s further education, weddings and inheritance. Make sure that you have the insurance coverage you need for your homes, vehicles and property. Contribute money to non-profit organizations that benefit children and the arts. Spend time this year teaching your children about the value of money, the importance of saving and good stewardship, and the fun of spending it on a memorable experience or a desired purchase.

Soft Metal energy tends to bring out our competitiveness. It’s important to channel that competitive spirit into becoming the best we can be instead of trying to be better that someone else. Healthy competition inspires us to become an even fuller expression of our Best Self. This year can be about winning, but without hurting or “beating” the other person. Endeavor to make every situation a Win/Win for everyone! And when you do win, give credit where credit is due!

Soft Metal is a mental energy. You may find that you become lost in thought, deep in conversation, more contemplative or find yourself intellectualizing. Active thinking will be taking place on the planet. People may seek understanding through the study of psychology, art history, geography, and technology. Some may go back to school to get a degree in order to get a promotion at work or to change fields. Others will continue their studies on their own or write books about their findings and musings.

Soft Metal is a very social energy. You may find that you are invited or want to participate in more social functions or join community groups, service clubs, or team sports. The dominate emotion this year is joy! Think about how you could bring more joy to the world or at least your corner of the world! Whatever you do, do it with joy!
