What's in a Name?

ICM Blog - What's in a Name?
Much has been made about gender being assigned at birth, based on human biology. While only words in languages can have gender, a person's sex is a biological fact that cannot be changed. Similarly, the name we're given at brith is an essential element of our soul's energy blueprint. Our birthday, birthdate and full birth name make up the numerology triad of our Birth Code. The harmonics of that chord never change even when we change our names.

While we can't change our sex, personal feng shui element or Birth Code, what we can change is our current name. If we have a challenging current name we can choose a new one or a different spelling. Having a fortunate current name and business name activates and enhances our ability to fulfill our life purpose, soul mission and the promise of our Birth Code. It's one of the most empowering things we can do to support our personal wellbeing and prosperity, as well as, business success and profitability.

When I ran my own numerology, it came as no surprise that both my maiden name and married name were challenging numbers. Or that, the French spelling of my mom's maiden name, that I took after my parents' divorce and the spiritual name I chose for myself after my divorce are both fortunate.

Women tend to change their names at least once, if not several times during their lives. While it's customary for women to take their husband's name, it's important to understand that when a woman takes a man's name, they are agreeing to take on his karma and his family's and ancestral karma.

Men tend to take it for granted that their wife will abandon their family's name and their own ancestral lineage to take their husband's last name. In the past, this served to establish that a woman was now under the protection of that man and his family. And that she was to be provided for and the responsibility of her new family until her death.

In the past, patronymic surnames also served to establish the paternity of the children that issued from that marriage. It also ensured that any property was passed down to the rightful male heirs. (Because in case you don't know, the word husband means "householder" or "landowner".)

To this day, married couples usually give their last name to any children from their marriage. It wasn't until the second wave of the feminist movement, that hyphenated names became a normalized compromise. In some cultures, children are given many names from both sides of the family. Some really manipulative men only give their daughters a first name, their last name and no middle name so that when that woman gets married her father's name becomes her middle name. So, for most people, the full name on their birth certificate has either their father's name, mother's name or both.

When it comes to our current name though, we have the power to choose one with a fortunate number and meaning. And that's what we can do with Chaldean numerology. Read more about the Current Name Numerology Guide

When I calculated the numerology of my business names, it was also no surprise that they are both the same neutral number. Not challenging, but also not fortunate, which means my ability to attract wealth and abundance through my businesses is limited. So, will I change them? No, because the meaning of the number 20, "The Awakening", and it's description perfectly fits with my soul's mission and intention for my work.

However, as a website URL, my business names add up to a challenging number. Once again they are both the same number. And it happens to be my Life Purpose number, Master number 11. But since the meaning of the number 11 is different in the Chaldean system than in the Pythagorean system, I am considering the best option for my two website addresses moving forward.

It's been fun to make slight tweaks to the names of my offerings and their pricing to fortunate numbers. And it's empowering to know that I have the tools I need to create fortunate names for everything I do in my business from now on.
