Summer Stack
RITUAL: Reading | SEASON: Summer | MONTH: June
One of the most enjoyable pastimes during Summer is having the time to read. Whether its the book you bring with you for a day at the beach or pack in your bag to the island resort on your vacation, the book you read in the hammock in your own backyard or the audiobook you listen to on your road trip, it can be fun to read books set during the Summer months. No matter your favorite genre, there’s a Summer stack of books for you!
Second only to the classics, my favorite genre is historical fiction. Normally, they both include a bit of romance but their historical references always intrigue me and teach me something about days gone by and the people who lived during those times. Being part Cherokee, growing up I read a lot of books about the Native Americans and indigenous people of various continents. Then, in middle school, my obsession with WWII began when I read every book there was about Anne Frank and The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. To this day, I still read historical novels set during the second world war, many featuring women who fought the Nazis or helped others hide and survive. My current read is, A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell.
