RITUAL: Rest & Reset | DAY: Sunday | TIME: Weekly

Each day of the week vibrates at a different energy frequency. There are the Sunday scaries that set in toward the evening if you haven’t utilized your weekend well or prepared for the week ahead. The dreaded Monday morning when a new work week begins. Mid-week Wednesday, known as “hump day”, related to getting through that day so you’re one day closer to the weekend. And the acronym, TGIF, standing for “thank goodness it’s Friday”, expressing the relief that comes with the final day of the work week.

Days are named after the planets in our solar system. As the name implies, Sunday is the Sun’s day, a good day to devote to rest, your spiritual life and self care. Monday can be an emotional start to the week as it’s associated with the Moon. Tuesdays tend to be the most productive day since it’s associated with the planet, Mars. Wednesdays, ruled by Mercury, are good for brainstorming, taking meetings and catching up on email correspondence. Thursday, ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and optimism, has positive energy and can be one of the happiest days of the week. Friday, ruled by Venus, puts us in a good mood as we anticipate social events or romantic rendezvous like drinks after dinner with co-workers or date night. Saturday, ruled by Saturn, makes us feel responsible for getting errands and household chores or weekly grocery shopping and meal prep done.

People who do meal planning will sometimes designate a day of the week for certain types of meals or international cuisine. Themed dinners include: Meatless Mondays, Taco Tuesdays and Take Out Thursdays. I’ve heard people talk about having Pizza or Brownie Fridays. Sunday brunch or Sunday family dinner is also common. Saturdays are for picnics in the park, barbecues or grill outs and movie nights.

Sunday

Sunday is the day of the Sun. The Sun is associated with our inner self, our ego, our soul, our divine spark. It’s a day to connect with and nurture our inner light.

Sunday is the perfect day for slowing down and taking it easy. Sleeping in and enjoying a leisurely morning. Not having a schedule, commitments or any deadlines to meet.

Sundays support going within to do some deeper inner work and self-reflection. It’s a good day to devote some time to your spiritual growth and personal development. It creates the space in your week to do the things that restore your soul.

Sundays resonate with the energy of having more time. There’s more time to do the things you enjoy like reading or hobbies. There’s more time to do some longer self care rituals. There’s more time to just be yourself and do things for yourself.

Sundays are a good day for a weekly reset. Get yourself, your life and your home ready for the week ahead. Get your mind refocused for next’s week’s work schedule.

Make Sunday your day of rest. Take the day to relax your body and rejuvenate your spirit. Sleep longer in the morning. Take a Sunday nap. Or, go to bed early on Sunday night.

Sunday, Funday! Sundays are also good for doing something fun, outside in the sun with friends and family. Go to the beach or the lake. Go on a picnic or special family outing. Make a family dinner or host a family gathering.
